GT Hospital

Gokuldas Tejpal Hospital is a government of Maharashtra run free hospital in South Mumbai, India. It was built in 1875 thanks to the beneficence of Gokuldas Tejpal, a renowned philanthropist of Mumbai. It is a peripheral hospital of Grant Government Medical College and Sir J. J. Group of Hospitals. Recently, the country’s first transgender ward was inaugurated at the state-run GT Hospital.

Maharashtra’s First transgender ward started at Gokuldas Tejpal Hospital. The 30-bed ward not only provides clinical and medical treatment to transgenders but also mental health counselling. The staff have been sensitised and issued detailed standard operating procedures. The hospital offers a wide range of medical services, including orthopedics, neurology, cardiology, and oncology, as well as general surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and bariatric surgery. It also has a state-of-the-art ICU and a well-equipped laboratory.
