Kasturba Hospital
Kasturba Hospital is the largest infectious diseases hospital in South East Asia, which admits patients of all infectious diseases. Formerly known as Arthur Road Hospital/City Hospital, it was established in 1892. At this hospital, cases of infectious diseases i.e. Chicken-pox, Measles, Mumps, AFP, Hepatitis (A,B,C,E & Other Hepatitis), Fever, Typhoid Fever, Malaria, Lepto, Dengue, H1N1, Meningitis, Dysentery, Diarrhea & Vomiting, Cholera, Diphtheria, Pertussis, (except Tuberculosis Venereal Diseases, Leprosy and Rabies) are isolated and treated. Cases of Plague and Cholera are compulsory transferred for this purpose. In this hospital a Central Analytical Laboratory is established. It is the sole laboratory in Mumbai Municipal Corporation, which analyzes the drugs received from different hospitals and dispensaries of Mumbai Municipal Corporation. In 2006 – 2007 the Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory was installed at Kasturba Hospital for infectious disease.
