Islamia Hospital
It was started as Islamia Charitable Dispensary at Kolkata, by one Late Ramjoo alias Bhola Mian with active support of some benevolent kind hearted persons. It was later handed over to Memon Jamat due to financial constraints and thereafter in 1931 it was shifted to 1, Bolai Dutta Street, Kolkata, under the name of Islamia Hospital. Later in the year 1942, a building at the present location was donated by Late Haji Md. Din Sahib, a businessman from Chiniot, Punjab and the hospital was shifted to the present premises in December, 1942 during the second world war. The hospital treats over 24 specialities including oncology and has their own diagnostic services and 24 hrs emergency service. Hospital extends the facilities of treatment and diagnosis to the poor and downtrodden people by granting concessions through Swasthya Sathi and various facilities with very concessional charges.
