P. D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre, which started off as a clinic in 1951, is today ranked as one of the leading multi-specialty tertiary care hospitals in the country. The hospital lays emphasis on development of Clinical Practice, Academics and Research – three important pillars of healthcare. The hospital was the first in Mumbai to introduce the full-time hospital based consultant model. It runs DNB courses in 26 Specialties; M.Sc. and PhD in Research; a Nursing College and Allied Health Sciences courses. Currently, the hospital is equipped with 520 beds of which 20% are reserved for charity. There are 300+ Consultants; than 800+ nurses & 3600 employees treating more than 1 Lakh patients annually.
The concept of full time consultants, was introduced against odds, for the first time in Mumbai while maintaining the pluralistic pattern of hospital-based, visiting and part-time consultants.

Short Stay Service: The Short Stay Service is a unique concept initiated by P. D. Hinduja Hospital that caters to patients undergoing surgeries and procedures that require a day’s stay in the hospital. The 19-bedded Short Stay Service Unit (SSSU) is a dedicated facility that acts like a hospital within a hospital wherein a patient can get admitted in the morning and is discharged the same day evening. The department is open round the clock except holidays and Sundays.
Customer Care Executive (CCE): From the moment a person enters P.D. Hinduja Hospital, Khar, he/she receives personalized attention from vibrant Customer Care Executives (CCE). The CCE provides assistance to any queries related to hospital services, such as rehabilitation rooms, restaurants, transportation, salon, notary, and fax.
Wi-Fi: The entire hospital is Wi-Fi enabled, to help you stay connected to the world outside, via laptop computers and iPads. Simply fill in a request form (available with Customer Care), and provide your personal identification details.
Self-Service Refreshment Counter: A convenient self-service refreshment counter with snack vending machine is available in the lobby just to fill mid-meal cravings.
Nutrition & Diet: At HHS, dieticians take care of a patient’s food, which is decided as per the physician’s treatment and prescription. The hospital kitchen serves well-balanced vegetarian meals and offers a nine-course patient menu to all room categories. Anything ordered apart from the menu will be additionally charged.
Entertainment: Each room is provided with a television. We only request you to control the volume and avoid disturbance to other patients.
Telephone Calls: In case of emergency, house phones on the ground floor connect to in-patient rooms. Outgoing calling facilities (local and STD) are also provided within In-Patient rooms for patients and relatives/attendants, on a chargeable basis.
